Modules:

-KDAK001-Module 1 –Color Theory and  Kitchen Colour schemes Modules:

In this module you will become familiar with properties of colour, main colour
harmonies and colour schemes in kitchens starting with the 1950’s.

-KDAK002-Module 2- Cabinet Construction, Types and Finishes

This module will introduce you to construction methods for cabinets, materials
used, types of units from standard to specialized, bench top and splash back
materials and hardware companies.

-KDAK003-Module 3- Appliances

In this module we will analyze the impact of appliances in the design of the
kitchens and you will research appliance brands.

-KDAK004-Module 4- The Client

In the design cycle, the client is the most important element. This module will look closer to client’s psychological profile and behavior during the renovation steps.

-KDAK005-Module 5- Floor Plan and Scale drawing

It all starts with the floor plan and this module will help you learn how to do that.

-KDAK006-Module 6- Designer Job

Being a kitchen designer is a glamorous profession with generous commissions. This module will introduce you to the profile of a kitchen designer, job structure, design brief and how to successfully communicate with your client.

-KDAK007-Module 7- Kitchen planning 1

We will look to main kitchen layouts and working triangle. NKBA set 40 guidelines when planning a kitchen and this module will introduce you to the first 1 to 5 of them.

-KDAK008-Module 8- Kitchen planning 2

NKBA set 40 guidelines when planning a kitchen and this module will introduce you to guidelines 6 to 21.

-KDAK009-Module 9- Kitchen planning 3

NKBA set 40 guidelines when planning a kitchen and this module will introduce you to guidelines 22 to 40.

-KDAK010-Module 10-Kitchen Styles

Classic, country style (French or British), modern, and contemporary kitchens will be the styles you will encounter the most in your work. This module helps you identify the difference between them.

-KDAK011-Module 11-Harmony, Balance, Symmetry

Beyond styles, colours, and materials, there are other important factors that contribute to creating a great kitchen: Harmony, Balance, and Symmetry. This module will present and analyze aspects of subtle aesthetics.

-KDAK012-Module 12-Design a Basic Kitchen

Time to roll up your sleeves and start designing! In this module you will be introduced to designer thinking when planning a kitchen.

-KDAK013-Module 13-Design and present a Country Kitchen

One of the most intricate styles is country. This module will stretch your abilities as you will be asked to design and present a country kitchen.

-KDAK014-Module 14-Design and present a Minimalist Kitchen

Less is more ! Minimalist kitchens are the highlight of modern days
and mastering its planning principles is the core of this module.

Certificate in Kitchen and Bathroom Design-4 Modules (top up)

 

Requirements: Certificate in Kitchen Design from KDA

Duration- at least 4 weeks

Duration of enrollment-within 1 year from starting the certificate

Enrollment type: Online, Distance,Full time or part time ( you can choose the modules you want only)

Graduation Certification (for full time only): Certificate of Graduation. 

 

Bathroom  Design Modules:

-KDAB001-Bathroom design Module 1- History.

This module will introduce you to the complex and weird evolution of bathroom and toilet, as well as to cleansing habits throughout centuries.

-KDAB002-Bathroom design Module 2- Bathroom Planning 1.

Similarly to the  kitchen, bathroom has its own set of planning rules developed by NKBA. Bathroom Planning 1 will introduce you to guidelines 1 to 14.

-KDAB003-Bathroom design Module 3- Bathroom Planning 2.

This module will introduce you to guidelines 15 to 27.

-KDAB004-Bathroom design Module 4-Design a Bathroom.

Yes, time to get creative. You will work on brief for a lovely Scottish-French couple. Your flair and talent are now required for a successful bathroom design!

Advance Certificate in Kitchen Design-5 Modules

 

Requirements:

-work experience as kitchen designer for at least 2 years

-or graduate of KDAO Certificate in Kitchen and Bathroom Design

-or Certificate or Diploma in Interior Décor, Interior Design or similar

Duration- at least 10 weeks

Duration of enrollment-6 months from start

Enrollment type: Online, Distance,Full time only

Graduation Certification: Advance Certificate of Graduation.

KDAA-001- The Art of Kitchen Design

Many designers are artists and many artists are designers, the line between the two is complex and intriguing.  One of the influential figures that blur the boundary between art and design is Mondrian.

KDAA-002- Kitchen and Design Principles

Visual elements are common for any type of communication. You will have to employ some of these elements towards designing kitchens.

KDAA-003 Kitchen and Design Process

This module’s subject stimulates students’ capacity for developing original and creative ideas, as well as establishing and managing design processes.

KDAA-004 Working with Style-Kitchen in  Contexts of Culture

You received the plans of an Art Deco house , built in 1952. The client wants to reconfigure the living, dining, kitchen, pantry, hall way (the red marked area from the photo) into an open plan, in order to make the interior suitable for their contemporary requirements

KDAA-005- Success is a Matter of Design

Kitchen designers have the complex mission of not only designing and planning kitchens, but selling them as well. Until recently, in kitchen industry, the cabinet maker was the designer and the sales person of his kitchens. Today the kitchen industry has specialized departments: management, production, design, sales.

Course structure

Depending on the enrollment type you choose, the modules will be sent to you  via a link or by e-mail on each Monday morning of the month (for online learning or all of them at the begining of the course, for distance learning).   On completion, you will send your assignment by e-mail to academy@kitchendesignacademy.net or by mail.

In order to successfully graduate the course, students will have to complete all the assignments and Pass 50% of the modules.

The work will be assessed and receive one of followings marks:

Pass 50-66%
Resubmission 0-49%

If the result is” Resubmission” you have the right to re send your assignment another two times( three times in total) . If in all occasions the result is “Resubmission”, the final mark will be “Fail”
