It was 2009. I moved to Australia with my wife, two daughters and three pets. We had very little money to our name and no stable jobs lined up. The Great Financial Crisis left us completely broke. We had to find a way to find a house suitable for a family of four (plus pets), find a car, pay for my girls’ education and keep on top of the medical bills that came with our sick cat. It felt impossible. I got a job as a sessional tutor of interior design but the wage was far from enough for living in an expensive city such as Melbourne. By the end of the year, I got the memo that all sessional tutors would not continue to teach following year. The future didn’t look too bright. I had to dig into my set of skills and find something valuable in the current market. I always liked kitchen design, I taught kitchen design at university, but I didn’t really work as kitchen designer as such. I had no other choice, I had to give it a go.
I called several companies, sent countless emails and eventually two companies were interested in meeting me. With one of them, I had an intensive training with the senior designer. I started by taking a floor plan of a room. The guy said he was happy to get me started within a month, but I couldn’t wait that long. So, I knocked at the door of the other company. The director asked very few questions, among one of which was: when can you start? I told him: immediately. In the next few days I had two clients, sold both kitchens and in two weeks I made more money than I had done in a month and a half of teaching. From there, everything went up. My passion for kitchen design saved my life! And I thought: You know what? I can help others changing their life through kitchen design! So I wrote a very long book about Kitchen and Bathroom Design, where I included everything I learned from my 30 years+ experience in this profession, called The Most Comprehensive Guide For Kitchen and Bathroom Designers (available in digital format only) This book is the most comprehensive guide written to date, and it supersedes any other books available in the market. The book is an A4 size, it is packed with information in 3 volumes, 492 pages, 593 images, diagrams and examples. It covers all aspects of designing, planning, appliances, finishes, history, styles, customer service and sales, for both kitchen and bathroom design, and it is only available from us.
