Kitchen Design AcademyOnline acknowledges the importance of the kitchen in today’s living and its part in human development. Kitchen represents more than a room or an area designed for preparing and cooking food, it is part of our culture, tradition and life philosophy. A modern kitchen is a central point of the house where we create, express, communicate, entertain, meet and enjoy life, family and friends.

Kitchen Design Academy Online prepares and up skills professionals for careers in kitchen industry as designers and kitchen planners. Specialized kitchen design skills and knowledge are developed through the learning program. The content of the program is written with respect to industry standards, requirements and values. Graduates will contribute to an increased quality of kitchen design and ultimately to the quality of life itself.

The People


Valentin Tinc

The school was founded by Valentin Tinc and he currently holds the position of school director.

Tinc is a professional designer whose career spans for more than 22 years, covering various projects such as interiors, furniture, kitchens, bathrooms, objects, art. His experience has been enriched by moving from Europe to New Zealand and later on to Melbourne, Australia. The cultural variety and diversity encountered throughout his journey, influenced and informed his work. Since 1989 he exhibited in more than 50 art and design exhibitions in Germany, Romania, New Zealand. He also received first price in Dulux Color Award 2004, Category Creative Expression, and was Highly Commended in Best Design Award 2004, both in New Zealand.

He taught for 9 years interior design in Christchurch and Auckland New Zealand and Melbourne Australia. The range of lectures and subjects he delivered cover:Kitchen design, Space planning, Trompe L’Oeil, Wallcoverings Design ,Perspective drawing, 20/20, History of Decoration and design. Interior design Studio,Design methods and techniques,History context for Bachelor of Design program.

He decided to open a kitchen design school online as he discovered a huge gap in the education market reinforced by generations of students he taught. He believes this school can help students to specialize,  existing kitchen designers to up skill and talented people to change their life and become something they always wanted: a kitchen designer!

Rick Lucas

Rick  is a seasoned designer with 30+ years of creative professional experience. He has served in the product design industries, the graphic and digital animation industries, and as a design educator at a University level, in New Zealand and overseas.


Michael Mertz

Michael has had an extensive career in interior design and architecture, fulfilling his clients’ requirements in residential, commercial and retail design. For more than twelve years he has been training the next generation of design talent, and his students are now design professionals working around the world.

George Bej

George is an MBA (MGSM Sydney) qualified, senior executive who has gained extensive commercial experience in manufacturing, distribution and service organisations within a number of industrial market segments.  As General Manager Sales and Marketing for the Housing Industry Association (HIA), George was successful in elevating HIA’s profile amongst industry and consumer audiences and expanding the Association to the nationally operating organisation that it is today.  George led Sales, Marketing and Acquisitions for Parbury – a division of the Alesco Group Of Companies and has also held management roles in Dulux, Taubmans Paints, Stoddart Metals and the Mirotone Group of Companies.


Mark Graham MA, BA (hons)

Mark was born in the UK and he is a Kitchen and Bathroom Designer with 10 years experience. He graduated  BA (Hons) 3D design at Wolverhampton University (UK) Masters Furniture Design & Technology at Buckingham Chilterns University Collage (UK). He is  affiliated member of the FKBD (Federation of Kitchen and Bathroom Designers) UK and associate  member of the BKDA (British Kitchen Designers Association) UK.

He worked for prestigious companies such as Vitra, Aero, Habitat, Matisse. He was also a lecturer in design in Kent and London.
